Benedict, Ermysted's

The Bone Sparrow

This book was well written, and subtly funny in places, however it was just depressing. A book set in a refugee detention centre has not much potential for being funny, so I can understand why it is depressing, but it could have been a bit more light hearted. In contrast, the story within the story plays a massive part in the plot. Overall, this book is depressing, but well-written, moving and quite funny in certain places.
