The Smell of Other People's Houses

The Smell of Other People's Houses is about 4 people living in Alaska. The book starts off when Alaska had just become a state (when all the characters are younger). It then skips on a bit to when they are older. The four characters are Ruth, Dora, Hank and Alyce. Ruth's dad died in a plane crash, and she is now living with her grandma and her sister. Dora's parents are alcoholics (especially her dad) and she is now living with Dumpling and Bunny (Dumpling is Ruth's friend and Bunny is her sister). Hank lives on a boat with his two brothers. Hank's dad has died and he doesn't like his mums new partner, so is trying to run away. Alyce's parents had split up and she is moving in between them all the time. She also likes fishing, and often goes fishing with her dad. I thought it was a good book, but it did get a bit boring towards the middle. I would rate it 3 stars and 13 + because it has some sexual references.
