Mrs Allsopp, Friesland School
A great read that kept me well and truly engaged. the thing I didn't get was the setting... why WWII? It really had no relevance to the story. I know plenty of students who would not read this book because it says in the blurb, that it is set in the war.
However, I LOVED the characterisation and determination of the main character. She was not prepared to let a man she knew was innocent, be vilified - good for her!
I did feel the end was a little rushed - almost like the author forgot intricate the story she had woven. If I didn't now better, I would have said it was finished by a different author!
Having said that, so far I have read 4 of the 8 books, and so far, this is my favourite. I loved the mystery and the intrigue over the stone and the wire.
I felt that is was genuinely a great tale. I have not read anything like it before. It was a unique story with some twists and turns, some laughter and sadness. Great stuff!
