Samuel, Exeter Cathedral School

There is a Tribe of Kids

This book is of its own genre, I feel that it manages to be somewhat deep and shallow at the same time, it cannot really be compared to other books.
The idea that I get is that this lost and abandoned boy is trying to fit in with other "colonies", but never seems to have the right qualities.
I also really like that the book begins with, "there was a tribe of kids." and ends on, "there is a tribe of kids."
I think that some of the collective nouns are fun too, I especially think that "there was an army of caterpillars." is quite ironic, as a big, strong army is made of small, quiet caterpillars.
I liked this book and would aim it at readers age 8-12.
