The Stars at Oktober Bend

This book really explores the importance of having people you hold dear close to you. Not only is the story heart-warming and beautiful, but it is also wonderfully unusual.
The dreamy, flowing style of Alice stays ringing in your head after you close the book, and her sweet lists and poems are really touching.
The fact that she is 16 with a 12-year-old mind is very interesting. I feel like it depicts perfectly the struggle of any "normal" teenager, looking for their place in life. However, it doesn't explore the matter too explicitly, making it perhaps even more enjoyable.
You can easily relate to one of the characters; their past, present and mentality are very different from one another; they're all unique.
Overall, I found it was a truly fantastic book, which makes you smile, cry, and think deeply about many things.
