The Bone Sparrow

As soon as I read the first page of The Bone Sparrow I was immediately captivated by it. Just by reading the blurb, I knew I was going to like it. The way Zana Fraillon wrote this book was completely and utterly beautiful and really captured how it would feel to be in a refugee camp. I loved that the book was written from Subhi and Jimmie's point of view, as it showed both sides to the story, which gave more of a touching insight to these two lives, as they become entangled. Their friendship is portrayed perfectly and shows how hope and friendship can really conquer any battle; whether that is dealing with the death of a parent or dealing with life in such poor conditions. This book is extremely moving and gives you sense of how awful life like this is. I would really recommend this greatly thought-provoking book to everyone. I give this book a 9/10.
