The Bone Sparrow
I read The Bone Sparrow over the holiday, and I really liked it. It could be a true story, as it was realistic and the author did lots of research about immigrants. The characters have their problems that we can side with, and when something happened I wanted to know what happened after that. It tells a story of realistic refugees from whom we can learn about problems throughout the world and what life could be like inside a refugee camp. Jimmie, the girl from outside the camp who makes friends with the protagonist, has readers intrigued with what it would be like if we weren't as lucky as we are. For example, she brings things from outside to show him, like thermos bottles and story books. Overall, The Bone Sparrow is good at explaining what happens in other countries in the world, and made me on the edge of my seat as well, which proves that it is a good book to read, even though it is not part of a series.
