Salt to the Sea

'Salt to the Sea' is an emotional novel with quite a lot of death, loss and hardships. It follows the story of 4 different people and shows you every situation through the points of view of the main characters.

Follow the journey of Emilia, Florian, Joana and Alfred as they struggle to escape Germany on what is an over crowded boat holding almost 9,000 more people than its max capacity caters for.

I enjoyed this book because it has the right mix of death but also hope for the war genre that it is written in. I also enjoyed that it shows the reader the story through the eyes of 4 different people, thus showing the different aspects of every situation and getting to know things about the 4 main characters that the other people in the story may not know.

Finally, I recommend this to anybody who enjoys war novels because this is set during the second world war. Also I would recommend this novel to people who enjoy tragedy or disaster novels because part of this story is based on what is probably the most severe naval disaster in human history with way more deaths than the Titanic!

I rate this book 4.5/5 stars.
