"Wolf Hollow" by Lauren Wolk is an incredible, eye -opening book.
The plot consists of the main character, Annabelle. Annabelle meets a girl named Betty, who has just arrived at her school and already doesn't come across very nicely. Toby, a gentle, shy man lives in a small smokehouse in the woods and is said to be "odd". However Annabelle doesn't believe he is different in a threatening or strange way and never thinks badly of him. One day Betty goes missing and all suspicion falls on Toby. Annabelle does everything in her ability to defend and help Toby and to find Betty before everything gets worse.
This book was set in a peaceful place called Wolf Hollow. I think this made the action and the drama of the plot more exciting because of the calm setting.
I liked this story because Annabelle iss a very well imagined and created character. Annabelle is amazingly brave and thinks differently than others. She never judges someone by the way they look, their past, or any crime they've been accused of; she simply waits until she has something to judge them for. This makes me like her character a lot. I didn't like the character of Aunt Lily for most of the novel as I feel she is the opposite of Annabelle and judges people unnecessarily.
This book includes some bullying and I think this may show readers, especially younger, that the bully never looks strong and brave from another view and that blaming someone for your own mistakes never ends well.
I give this book 5 stars.
