Salt to the Sea

What a book! The sweet simplicity of the cover hides a twisted tale. From the first sentence of the first chapter, I was engrossed.I love everything about it.The different perspectives that slowly piece together a beautiful work of art...
Firstly, I am a huge fan of war based books, yet i feel that most are written against Hitler. However, this wonderfully lugubrious book is mainly written from the view of eastern Europeans-all who see Stalin as the villain and Hitler to be their one shot at hope. This intrigued me hugely. The build-up of the characters is perfect-especially Florian.
The imagery is spectacular; the W.G scene is heart-breaking. if the Titanic is a martyr, than the TRUE story of the W.G deserves to be a saint. The powerful use of paragraphing really exaggerates the fear mainly for Emilia. The structure may not be for some but it is a bit similar to way i write and so has really helped me to develop my skills. 100/10 no question about it. EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
