Railhead by Philip Reeve is a very interesting book with lots of fantasy and adventure. The main character, Zen Starling, has a power which he doesn't realize he has. I thought that it was quite a disappointment however when Zen found out his power and he didn't really think much of it and there wasn't a lot about the power where I thought there might be.
I did however like most of the middle, which is where most of the action happens, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't read on to the end, as the ending is quite unexpected. At the start I thought that it might be a bit of a weird book and that I might not like it due to the starting few chapters, however as I read more I realized that this was quite more than just a weird book about a thief.
So like I said in the paragraph above, if you do find the start boring it is definitely worth reading on as it gets more exciting by the word, and it climaxes all the way until maybe the last 40-50 pages.
I would definitely recommend this book to 12 years old and over, as I really enjoyed it and it is the same kind of genre that most people that age would like.
