Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth

This is a very quirky but cool story written by Frank Cottrell Boyce.
Straight away when you pick the book up, the front cover grabs you immediately because of the stunning colours and the interesting characters that we soon meet in the story. Sputnik is very daring but funny because of his plan to save the planet in one summer. By having these jokes, this really engages the reader because they make them chuckle and carry on reading. I really like the illustrations because I found them really funny as they are quirky but they give us a bigger insight into the story. I like Prez the best because of his list of amazing things that guide him on his mission to save the world. He's just a normal school boy so doing this mission would have been hard but he felt good afterwards and made a new friend from space. The relationship between Prez and Sputnik is really positive because it got better as the story went on as their bond became stronger. I would rate this book 8 out of 10 because of the above but I thought it was a little bit to young for me as I normally read more older books. A great story but you would have to be between 8 and 12 to really enjoy this book. Despite that criticism, I still enjoyed this book.
