Namita, The Book Surfers, Seychelles

Salt to the Sea

Set amidst the backdrop of the Second World War, ‘The Salt to the Sea’ follows the story of four individuals who are entangled in a web of lies, deception, terror, cruelty and betrayal. Beautifully written with deep emotions and tragedy, it shows a struggle for peace and safety as the worlds of the Nazi Reich and Soviet Union clash.

I appreciate the innovation and originality of the author for having chosen such a unique subject, one which is the worst maritime disaster in history, but also a topic which is less broached and explored. Ruta Sepetys has brought to light an incident long forgotten to many - masses of population that have slipped through the cracks of history.

I am sure this novel will be an absolute treat for fans of historical fiction and I hope that you will enjoy reading this novel as much as I did.
