The Smell of Other People's Houses
The Smell of Other People’s Houses is about 4 people who are all linked in one way or another. The story is set in Alaska in 1970. It is all about people not being understood, friendship and hardship. I liked that the book had 4 different story lines as it made it more interesting and just better as a whole. My favourite character was Ruth because she shows that she is brave and strong in many cases, though I didn’t like the character Dora as she is mean and selfish. I did love that they all are linked in a very complicated way as it makes you think- and I think that this is a good trait of a book. However, I didn’t like how it made all the characters’ stories sad and I think that I should have had a character that didn’t come from a bad background. I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars as it was a good book but not outstanding.
