The Stars at Oktober Bend

The Stars at Oktober Bend is a beautiful and heart warming tale of an unique girl called Alice and an orphaned boy called Manny. The book really lures the audience in and suddenly, you can't put it down. It's an enchanting story of two, very unfortunate children whose lives are plagued with sorrow and under-estimation and how they overcome their feelings.
The story of an unusual girl who has a troubled past and will be 'twelve' forever and a boy who has run away from hurtful memories are two different prospects you usually don't find together in a book.
A girl whose grandmother is on her deathbed, a long gone mother,an imprisoned grandfather, a dead father and an under eighteen brother. All these things whisk threw Alice's head in an everlasting tornado as she narrates her past of the story. This shows as she expresses her emotions and tells us about her live's events.
Manny, another main character of this beautifully written novel, has a troubled life where he is desperately trying to escape the events of his past. The novel is about how he slowly learns to forgive himself and finally chooses to forget the past and carry on life.
Overall, this touching, memorable book lingers in the mind and thoroughly engages the reader. It gives other people an experience different from what they're used to in books and changes the way people think about life. It is a book from which many things could be learnt. I'd rate it a well deserved 10/10 and would recommend it to anyone whose looking for a unique, worthwhile book.
