Salt to the Sea

Salt to the sea was an amazing book of romance and war that really took me along with it throughout. At first I thought I was going to hate this book as it just didn't really appeal to me for the first chapters. As I got further into it I found it harder and harder to put it down, reading around 100 pages at a time! The story is written from real facts turned into a historical fiction book. It is about three refugees fleeing from Germany to escape the war, however they all have secrets and do not trust each other at first. It is also from the view of Alfred a low ranking sailor who just wants to be known for something. On the other hand I feel the book had a very abrupt ending as I just expected more to it than that. It is one of my favourite Carnegie books and I would definitely read a sequel.
