Pier, Tunbridge Wells Grammar School For Boys
I enjoyed Railhead because of it's interesting story and it's character's diversity, I would recommend this book as it's good quality but not so long that you will get really bored by the end of it.
I really enjoyed this aspect of the book as it was always taking surprise turns so that you never really new what was going to happen next. This is a plus but it also had a down side as it interested you but also became a bit mundane as you could predict that they weren't going to do this or that.
I found the characters very diverse and it was exciting to see how they developed through the story line. My favourite character has to be Zen Starling, I liked him the most as his changes throughout the story where very dramatic. I think this as he started off as a low street urchin, stealing valuable items for a living, but somehow turned into a hero by the end of it!
One of my favourite things about it was the place and time it was set in. I enjoyed it as it reflected some of our life at the moment with normal trains and how if you look out the window you see almost what seem to be different worlds in minuets! All the places they go to are so descriptive that you can almost see yourself there standing in their place.
In conclusion, I think this book is one of the best on the list and rightly deserves the prise. Obviously others might not think this as they could find the story quite boring if you leave it too long, but other than that I see no reason why someone shouldn't like it!
