Salt to the Sea

If this book had been nominated for the Carnegie Medal the same year as Robert Westall's The Machine Gunners, it would have been very hard to choose between them. 'Salt to the Sea' is probably one of the best books of all time. It has a lot of plot twists and its characters are well linked in. I like the way the characters are written because you don't know who to trust. Some of them are dodgy and they all have secrets. The author's words let me imagine the book in my head like it was playing off a movie projector. It's one of those books where you want to open a window and shout out 'Yeah boys, read this.'
