Alfie, Forest Hill School

Beck

Beck is a very mature book and has a lot of themes that are best suited to very adult readers but this does not take away from the book as it portrays an unfortunate person who's born at an unfortunate time.

As the story progresses, you can see that the attitude towards Beck and his ethnicity changes and you can see this when Beck, in his late teenage years, is treated very differently than at the start where he was constantly abused.

Overall, the book was one of the most exciting books I have ever read and should probably deserve any award that it receives. AA
