The Bone Sparrow

When I read the blurb of this book, I thought that it would be quite intense and dark, and although there was some of that in it, it was also full of wonder, hope and passion. The bone sparrow is about a small boy named Suhbi, who is a refugee at a detetion centre. He is one of many in the camp who are simply trying to get by without any trouble, unlike his friend Eli who has different ideas. Suhbi's life has never been particularly interesting or dangerous, until he met Jimmie, a girl from the outside... This book is more for older ages but is still a touching and soulful read which I would highly recommend.
