Wolf hollow is about a girl called Annabelle who lives on a farm with her family. Betty starts new at her school but is known for causing trouble. When something happens to Annabelle’s best friend Ruth, Betty claims to have seen the person who hurt her and tells everyone that it was Toby, a quiet man that walks around the fields most of the time. More events unfold and Annabelle becomes friends with Toby and learns about his traumatic past as she tries to prove his innocence.
Wolf Hollow is set around the Second World War. It was quite gripping and the plot was well-constructed. I also liked the ending and how Annabelle matured throughout the book and understood more as well as ‘learning to lie.’ Overall, I enjoyed reading this book but I don’t think it is going to win the award.
