The Bone Sparrow

'The Bone Sparrow' is a book written by Zana Fraillon that talks about the life of a boy called Subhi, who's been living in a refugee camp all his life.

Fraillon uses a variety of techniques to display the emotions of the refugees in the detention camp, where all they know of is abuse and darkness. Eli, Subhi's friend brings light into Subhi's life as an inspiration of finding hope, when one day an outside girl named Jimmie visits Subhi and they become the best of friends.

The presence of Jimmie makes us realize the contrast between Subhi's captivity and Jimmie's freedom. 'The Bone Sparrow' is a beautifully written book where all the emotions are mixed and confused with what the readers interpret. This book will make you smile and cry at the same time while the urge of reading forward keeps you distracted.
