The Journey is a very touching book about a mother and two girls who have set out to seek refuge, leaving their home behind. they had had to travel for weeks to a place they had only seen several photographs of.
The author has surrounded the text with amazing pictures, which really give a flavour to this whole story. Francesca Sanna has drawn the family in such a way to show that they are very small compared to the troubles they have to face, yet they are determined and don't give up, even when they are being hunted down by fierce guards blocking the border wall.
The story and the pictures fit together very well, and this book has touched me to the very bottom. This book is for now my favourite of the shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2017.
