Railhead, by Philip Reeve, is an exciting sci-fi story about a young thief, Zen Starling, whose world is turned upside down when he steals a necklace from a shop. Zen gets captured by a master thief known only as ‘Raven’. Raven gives him an assignment to steal a valuable object from one of the most important trains in the galaxy. This train, called the Noon Train, can travel through portals to visit different worlds. However, it soon occurs to Zen and his Motorik friend Nova that there is a much bigger plan behind this all…
I thoroughly enjoyed the sci-fi world this book was set in because it was so completely out-of-the-ordinary and the idea of the trains travelling through portals is genius. This book kept me hooked all the way through and I could really feel the character’s emotions. With twists and turns at every corner, this was an amazing read and I would give it 5 stars!
