Matilda, Newstead Wood School

The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow told a touching and heartfelt story from an innocent young boy. As I was reading it I felt as if I was there. I felt a real passion for the characters and it made me think about how life must be in detention centers in Australia. The characters all had stand out personalities and were distinguishable from them. The plot was very complex, with other stories intervened in it. It was complicated but good in that way as you were left thinking of what might happen next. At the climax of the book it was very tense and all the while I felt afraid for them and didn't want anything bad to happen to them. I got attached to the characters and when I finished I felt sad that I had done so. The characters were very relate-able and I felt happy for them at the end. I highly recommend this book. The characters have stand out personalities, the style is very much like 'The Boy In The Striped Pajamas' and it is a touching and heartfelt story.
