I am reviewing Railhead and I don’t know where to start! I was ready for a negative reaction and that is what I was expecting as I hate sci-fi. However Railhead really surprised me as I did kind of enjoy it. The language is hard to understand and I know there is a glossary but I found when I read the glossary that it relived too much and effected the amount of suspense in the book. I didn’t find the book very interesting at first and really didn’t want to carry on reading! I did carry on though and the end really shocked me and the actual meaningful story that was hidden underneath all of the sci-fi and that is based around every day current events were relatable. For example that one of Zen’s family members is mentally ill and that there was a civil war because people were different e.g. the “humans” and the motorik are different. It is definitely not one my favourite books but it isn’t the worst book I have ever read so I certainly wouldn’t rate it last. I really enjoyed reading it and all the plot twists including the ending and I really want to read the sequel and find out about the new k-gate. I am not really sure where I would rate this book compared to all the other Carnegie books but it would probably be second last!
