Ellie, Our Lady's Abingdon (OLA)
The Stars at Oktober Bend
My first impression was that it would be an interesting story about two children trying to escape their past. I was mostly right.
Alice Nightingale is like any other 15 year old girl on the outside, but on the inside, it is a different story. She can't always get the words out, but is saved by poetry. Manny is a boy with a troubled past, who runs to escape it. When they meet, can they put the past behind them.
Overall, it was a very good book, and showed how different people can be just the same as you or I, truly. I would recommend it to year 7 and above as it can be quite hard to understand at some points.
