Mrs Hirst, St Edward's Senior School

The Stars at Oktober Bend

I struggled to get into this book initially, but it really picks up after about 30 pages in. It is written in a very expressive and lyrical way. I love that there is a strong central female character. I read this after The Bone Sparrow and there are many similarities - the importance of family, the role storytelling can have in people's lives, and displaced people. 8/10. Lovely book.
