The Bone Sparrow

This book is set in a detention camp in Australia. Subhi, the protagonist, has lived in the camp his whole life and has had many adventures. However, when his best friend Eli gets moved to another section of the camp his whole world changes. Additionally, he meets a girl, Jimmie, who occupies his attention when Eli has gone. Nevertheless, this changes when other refugees start to protest.
I felt that this book starts off at a slow pace and during the first third can get slightly boring. However, the other two thirds are very captivating as there are lots of events. The last third of the book becomes very emotional as you have created a bond with the characters. I really enjoyed the book because of how the ending ties all the events together and conveys lots of emotion.
