Dominic, St Bede's Inter-Church School

The Stars at Oktober Bend

Uh Oh!
Personally this book was by far one of my least favorite books in all the years ive done carnige. With Charaters with a "Mysterious" backsory that is meerly glossed over in a couple of pages and a plot with verry little sense or meaning it ends up being the same old romance novel. The lack of capital LETTERS complety shocked me and made this already difficult to read book almost illegible. the final straw was at the begining there is an authors note (i do not have the book on hand to quote)saying how this book contains tragic themes but in the end you will find yourself supporing alice and manny (see my refual to usecapital letters) which i find completly shocking as this book has verry few adult themes whereas some on this years list , like Beck, have far more adult themes and language but those books authors did not deem it nessesary to write a "authors note." also the poetry in this book is appawling. enough said.
To conclude this book is one of the worst i have ever read and does not deserve a place on this years carnige. i rate this a 0/10
