Salt to the Sea

There is only one word that describes this book and that is amazing. Set near the end of World War II, this book pulls you in from the first page. It is told through the four perspectives of Joana, Florian, Emilia, and Alfred. Each is on the run from the war in hope of survival. I absolutely loved the character of Florian as he was so mysterious that I just enjoyed trying to figure him out. This has got to be one of the best Historical Fiction books I've read in a long time. It breaks your heart and makes you smile at the same time. Ruta Sepetys had a good way to make you feel engaged with the story and I look forward to reading more of her books in the near future.
