Beck

So far I'm on page 109 and am enjoying it, however there have been some parts that were extremely unsettling like the part where Beck is raped. Other than that it has been interesting to see what is happening in Beck's life, as it is ever-changing so I'm reasonably looking forward to what happens next. The characters are very unique and it is easy to feel empathy for Beck, which in my view is is an important aspect in a book like this. This book does include racism which i think is good in conveying the harsh reality of life in the days the book was set in. The description and change in scenery is particularly captivating as you never know where he will end up next.
Overall, I think the book does deserve the award that it has been, but there are parts that can be a bit dull occasionally.
