Railhead is a science-fiction book about a boy who is hired to steal an object from the Emperor’s art collection. In a world of artificial intelligence and the ability to hop between planets thousands of light years away through ‘K gates’ the book would make thrilling reading for people who enjoy science fiction.
For me, science fiction has never particularly held my attention and although I could see what those who do like it would love about the book it was not really my thing. The hopping with worlds could become confusing at times but the glossary at the back of the book helped. The ending for me was disappointing but I could see why the author wrote it like that - perhaps leaving room for a sequel?
I enjoyed part 3 the best. I think this is because it was clear to me who I wanted to encourage and support whilst reading. In the other sections it became slightly confusing as to who were ‘goodies’ and ‘baddies’ with constant shifts for some characters between the two. I would also like to find out what happens to Threnody and Kobi as well as knowing if Damask Rose, Nova and Zen are okay. Also, does the empire try to take revenge on Myka (Zen’s sister) and Zen’s Ma to try and get back at Zen?
