The Bone Sparrow

I loved this book! From the very first page of this book I was enhanced and enraptured. Every word brought me closer to the characters inside, making me feel as though I was with them, and feeling all of their heart aches.

The bone sparrow tells the story of asylum seekers, and refugees, treated as the worst of criminals only for searching for peace, and a new start. Nine year old Subhi narrates his story as one of so many, so we see the world he has never known, that we take for granted, through his eyes, as well as the sufferings chained to his caged life. This book is making the invisible, visible, who are treated as "dead rats... left out to rot so no one else bothers to try." These are the words of Subhi as he loses his most precious treasure.

The Bone Sparrow, with its tragedy, and themes of hope, is my favourite Carnegie book so far, and it really gave me the tingle factor. I recommend this book to anyone.
