Toby, Impington Village College
Wolf Hollow is a story with a strong moral about telling the truth and honesty.
Annabelle has lived in Wolf Hollow (a quiet place in the American countryside) damaged by two world wars (the book is set in the second). When Betty Glengarry, a harsh and controlling girl comes to lives with her grandparents, Annabelle's world is shattered. But when Betty mysteriously vanishes suspicion falls upon gentle loner Toby, a strange man who lives on the outskirts of Annabelle's parents farm.
A well thought out book, I found this interesting from cover to cover due to its enticing story line and historically accurate facts.
The novel grasped my interest despite the fact when reading books like this I normally stop half way as they bore me to death! This allowed me to read on as I was keen to find out what happened to Toby and how Betty ended up. The moving ending set this book apart from other novels based on life in the countryside during the war. I would rate this book for persons over 10 years old who like to think.
