Salt to the Sea

I loved "Salt to the Sea" it was such an unique story. Ruta Sepetys writing is so detailed, it felt like I was a part of the story. Reading from the four main characters perspectives was really one of the best parts of the book; you can see those characters different thoughts on events that were happening and how those events were specifically effecting them.
"Salt to the Sea" is a character driven story. Every character was strong and you really got to know them as the story progressed. I loved reading a World War 2 story from the perspective from characters who weren't Allies (from Britain, America, France etc) instead the four main characters were from Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Prussia which gave it a different perspective creating a very different reading experience for me. Reading that was effected everyone in both sides (something I'm guilty of forgetting) and reinforcing the idea that we shouldn't judge a whole group of people by the one person who is leading that group really makes "Salt to the Sea" an eye opening book.
"Salt to the Sea" is one of my favourite books, the story and characters will stay with me forever and it really changed me as a person. If you haven't read it you have to do so.
