The Smell of Other People's Houses
The author of "The Smell of Other People's Houses" has crafted a wonderful read, which I quite enjoyed. However, it felt to me that she was trying to include too many aspects and events into one story, leaving me feeling that the characters could have been more developed, or that the story could have been a little longer. I really liked all the characters, especially Ruth because she shows how brave and strong she can be in times of struggle.
Overall, this book is very well-written, but I felt like the connections between the characters could have been deeper and more realistic. I felt like Hitchcock has accelerated the evolution of how the four main characters interact. For example, Ruth and Hank see each other for the first time in a shop, don't even talk to each other, and the second time they meet, it seems like they have known each other for a long time.
