Miss Rowley, Aston's Avid Readers!

Salt to the Sea

I really enjoyed Salt to the Sea and felt I got a bit of a History lesson whilst reading too! I'd never heard of the Wilhelm Gustloff ship before and it was really heartbreaking reading this fictional account that was very true to life.

This book was terribly sad in places and it seemed to affect a lot of my favourite characters (without spoiling it!). I loved Joana and Florian; Opi and the wandering boy were lovely too.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with an interest in History and I think it should be read by everyone to give us an insight into lives and perspectives we don't normally see when studying WW2.
