I loved Rook. It was about a boy called Nicky who found a bird with his brother. All the attention is on his brother. But it's Nicky who is struggling in school with his love life and bullying. I liked how the first chapter was told from the perspective of a rook. I loved that it got straight in with the action. And then all the other chapters were told by Nicky. It started with Nicky seeing all this action and then how he sorted it. It made me chuckle in quite a few places (I even got told off in class for laughing!) It got very tense in places which made a real page turner. I got very absorbed into the book and felt sorry for Nicky in places. I liked the family drama as well as the school drama;I felt it made it more realistic. Rook was better than I thought it would be, it was packed full of action so there was no time to waste! It has made me want to read the next book in the series. The only thing I would say is it contained bad language in quite a few places so I would rate it for 12+.
