Amelia, Fully Booked

Rook

I have mixed feelings toward this book. On the one hand, I found the characters believable and intricate. Their interactions and motives were realistic with an sense of unpredictability that made 'rook' an interesting read. Furthermore, the plot line was gripping and, although slow in places, involved the reader. However, I found the style bland and unimaginative. For me the description was lacking real imagery and thought. Although, I enjoyed reading it and was fascinated by the ending, 'Rook' wouldn't be my choice for the Carnegie award.
