The Stars at Oktober Bend

The Stars at Oktober Bend is a touching story about a girl named Alice, who was a victim of a horrific assault, and as a result has serious brain damage. Since she finds it hard to speak she writes down her thoughts in the form of beautiful poems, unseen by everyone but her caring older brother and terminally ill Gram - yet! This is when the plot takes a delightful twist in the form of outcast Manny, who as it would seem, is Alice's soulmate.

The book has not the most intense or adventurous plot, but once you become absorbed into Alice's topsy-turvy world it's hard to come up for air. Although it is hard to adjust to the stylistic elements Glenda Millard has used, you soon barely notice it and i find it is then easier to jump into Alice and Manny's hectic world.

Overall it is beautifully written, and such a unique style, i find it hard not to love it!
