Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth

A fun and imaginative book by the author of Millions, Framed, Cosmic and my most favourite of the lot; the modern sequels to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I first read this book when it first came out and I loved it then. Since I read it for the Carnegie it was even better. It was fun, adventurous and had that magical feel to an otherwise ordinary world. It answers questions about what would have happened if Laika survived and if we were not alone. Just like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again, Cottrell Boyce takes an old story and makes it great for the younger reader and inspires them to do research about it and maybe find the actual story. I really enjoyed the book, it was fun, imaginative and it was just another great book by Cottrell Boyce which was hugely funny. Hopefully we'll see a sequel to it soon.
