Sam, Christ's Shadowers
This is at the same time an incrdedibly moving, riveting read and yet totally horrific and harrowing and not for those of a sensitive nature. The two young characters are very believable and you want so much for them to have a happy ending but they are doomed by the world around them. This book is a reflection of the lives of many people living in the poorest, most violent areas of Mexico whilst huge corporations exploit them and go unchallenged. In many ways I wish I hadn’t read this sad, difficult, haunting book.
