Rook - Anthony McGowan

Rook is about two brothers, Nicky and his learning-disabled brother Kenny. One day they rescue a half dead Rook being attacked by a sparrowhawk. Kenny is determined to keep the injured bird alive, however Nicky is sceptical. Nicky has much more to worry about, with a school bully on his mind and trying to find a way to talk to his first.

I enjoyed reading Rook because it is full of emotion and drama. Also, its very funny and relatable in some parts. This story may be a small read but it definitely still worth while to read. As well as this, I thought the book represents the lives of young kids very well and you can relate to the thoughts and feeling they are experiencing.

Altogether this was a great read and would recommend it to teenagers as you can understand it more. I would give it three and half out of five.
