"Wolf Hollow" is a mysterious book that centres around a young girl named Annabelle. She lives on a quiet farm in Wolf Hollow, with three generations of her family. This quiet is soon disturbed by a girl named Betty, who moved from the city to live with her grandparents since she's a "troublemaker". Betty is he main antagonist of the book, and threatens Annabelle in order to get what she wants. However, when Betty disappears, fingers are pointed towards Toby, a strange man that lives in a shack in the woods and wanders the hills.
My favourite character is probably Annabelle. She is quite clever and brave considering her age, and also stands up for her friend. Annabelle is also quite a developed character, with lots of detail being put into her backstory and memories. However, this could only be since the story was told through her point of view, so the author tried to give us a backstory on different characters through her memories.
The setting and history of this book were both very intricate, with the writer incorporating historical information about WW II into the novel. Lauren Wolk even included the reason for the book's title in the story
I would give this book 4/5 stars since it was better than I expected it to be.The writer uses lots of unusual similes and effective imagery too. I wouldn't normally read books like this, but I did enjoy it.
