The Smell of Other People's Houses
The Smell of Other People's Houses is an incredible book, which I absolutely adored. Each different perspective was beautifully written and told a fantastic story; the way they were all subtly involved with each other from the beginning was extremely clever and them all meeting at the end was something I had greatly anticipated. This book did not make me cry, it left me beaming and put me in a brilliant mood! My favourite character was Ruth because I admired her strength and determination and her story was my favourite. I also loved how she got to understand her Gran at the Abbey and I even felt sympathy (for them both!) after learning about what happened to Ruth's mother and father. Both of their lives had been tough, but neither one was strong enough to reach out to help or be a shoulder to cry on. However, they both evolved and changed as people throughout the book and it made me so happy, knowing that they were now firm friends. All of these characters inspired me with their perseverance, despite them all living in the pages of a novel. This book's only weakness for me was that sometimes I found all the relations a bit hard to follow, but nevertheless, I am giving this book a grand 10/10!
