The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow's beginning is slow, but it's surely slowly unwinding without much movement at first. It is set in a detention centre in Australia, and a nine year old boy, Subhi has lived there with his mum and sister all his life, feeding his imagination on other people's stories and memories. He has been waiting all his life for his father(Ba) to come take him away from this place, but when he meets Jimmie, a curious girl from beyond the fence, his wishes and happiest memories change.
The Bone Sparrow is a sad but hope-bearing novel showing you the truth that so many face during wars.
Because of the slow beginning and heart-warming end I would rate this book a 6/10.
