The Bone Sparrow
I really enjoyed experiencing 'The Bone Sparrow' as reading it from the perspective of a young boy with that sort of lifestyle really opened my eyes to the challenges our world still faces.
I think that Subhi is an incredibly strong and inspiring character. His ability to face hardships at a young age is admirable. He is a creative character who enjoys drawing and listening to his mother's tales about the world outside of the camp.
The plot reminds me of the 'Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' as Subhi soon meets the tomboy girl, Jimmie, from the outside who climbs over the fence and they secretly share stories together.
One opinion I have on the book is that the relationship between Subhi and Jimmie was slightly rushed which made it seem unrealistic to me - wouldn't Subhi have more questions about life outside of the gates?
My favourite character was Eli because he always looked on the bright side of things even if they were horrific. He
acted like a heroic character for me because of the events he plans.
