After the Fire

'After the Fire' did bring to life the reality of being trapped in a cult and it is loosely based on events in Waco, Texas, in 1993. It was a good read. Its weakness for me was the lack of pace in the plot and the fact that the characters were weakly drawn. It's hard to care for characters if you don't really know much about them and I felt that most were two-dimensional. We could have done with less plot and more character. There seemed to be inconsistencies too. Why is Moonbeam still in a brainwashed state after the fire when she has already changed her views before it? (trying not to write any spoilers here). It also felt predictable and I guessed the ending fairly early on. 6/10
