The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow is a truly powerful work of fiction with a truly powerful message. I enjoyed the incorporation of another story, narrating the love story between Oto and Anka. The bone sparrow linked in excellently between both stories - very imaginative. The depressing fact is that the circumstances happening to Subhi and co. occur in everyday lives in refugee camps. Eli's story with the Whale and the Night Sea was beautifully written. The illustration between chapters were very effective. Overall, a very sad book but with sporadic, unexpected humour.
